With the Spreader On/Off handle in the “OFF”
(closed) position, turn the dial to the appropriate
setting. When the Spreader On/Off is pulled to the
“ON” position, the gate will open to the set position.
Note:
The slot, after setting 9 on the dial, allows the
hopper gate to be opened to the maximum position.
This setting can be used for dry sand, ice melt, or
other materials that are difficult to spread; it may
also be used for hopper cleanout (see
Cleaning the
Spreader
section).
Drive Wheel Release Valves
WARNING
The engine and hydraulic drive units can become
very hot. Touching a hot engine or hydraulic
drive units can cause severe burns.
Allow the engine and hydraulic drive units to
cool completely before accessing the drive wheel
release valves.
Located on the left and right sides underneath the
control tower.
During normal operating conditions, the release
valve nut should be tight. To tighten, rotate the nut
clockwise until snug (Figure 8). If the machine has
to be pushed by hand, loosen the nut by rotating
counterclockwise one turn. (see Figure 8).

Release the parking brake. The machine is now able
to be pushed by hand.
Do Not tow machine.
To reset the drive system back to the operating
position: Tighten the nut by rotating clockwise until
snug. Repeat this on each side of the machine.
Tines Ground Engagement Thumb
Switches
Keep hands and feet away from the tines. Ensure
that the tine area is clear of any obstructions
before lowering.
The switches are located in the end of the motion
control levers (see Figure 5).
To lower the tines into the ground, press the left
thumb switch and hold until the tines reach the
desired depth. To raise the tines, press the right
thumb switch and hold until the tines are at the
desired height.
Important:
The tines are rotating when the
tines are lowered and the motion control lever is
moved out of the neutral position.
Caster Wheel Lock Foot Pedal
Located on the right side of the operator platform
(see Figure 5).
Press and hold the caster wheel lock foot pedal to
lock the caster wheels in the straight position. Release
the foot pedal to unlock the caster wheels and allow
the machine to freely turn.
