CODE LOW REFRIGERANT
PRESSURE
1) If it appears right away when you put power to the heat
pump, then there is a loss of gas and a Refrigeration
Technician needs to be called
2) If the heat pump works for a while then LP Appears
1) Check that Fan Is running Properly
2) Put Test Gauges on the unit - If low side pressure is LESS
THAN 75PSI when temperature is over 10c / 50f, then check
for Leak / Valve Failure
3) Check TXV Valve –. Distribution Tubes after TXV Valve will
freeze up if it is not working well.
4) If you think the failure is the Valve, weigh the refrigerant as
you recover it. If the weight recovered is close to the factory
charge, then replace the valve.
Normal Operating Pressures:
100 to 150 psi if Temp is over 10C on Low Side
250 to 450 psi on high pressure side (depending on water
temp)
Common Refrigeration leak points – Lower Evap Header on Left,
Access Valves (Change the Spring Valve), Ti-Clad (Change
Titanium Coil), Flooded machine (If sand Filter breaks,
BYPASS AND CLEAN OUT UNIT ASAP!)
