Maintenance

Storage and Transportation

• When transporting the machine, turn off the motor

switch and close the fuel key. Keep the machine leveled

to prevent fuel spillage.

• When storing the machine long periods of time:

• The machine fuel shall be drained completely as

indicated in the previous paragraph. Then, start the

motor until all the fuel inside the motor is consumed.

• Replace oil as indicated in page 13.

• Remove the spark plug and pour one spoonful of

SAE-10W/30 oil in the cylinder. Pull the starter lever to

distribute the oil in the system. Then, set the spark plug

back.

• Pull the starter lever slowly until feeling resistance. This

indicates the cylinder is reaching its compression phase

and the exhaust and absorption valves are closed.

Storing the machine in these conditions prevents internal

corrosion.

• Wipe clean the machine with a damp cloth and cover it

to prevent dust entering and accumulating on the

welder.

• Store the machine in a clean, dry place away from

children’s reach.

Fuel Drain

• Set a container adequate to hold fuel underneath the

tank. Use a funnel to prevent fuel spillage.

• Close the fuel key. Remove and clean the fuel filter as

indicated above.

• Before setting the filter, open the fuel key to drain all

the fuel tank contents. Once drained set back the filter

and sediment container.

• Underneath the carburetor set a container adequate to

hold gasoline. Use a funnel to prevent fuel spillage.

• Remove the drain bolt (

A

).

• Once fuel is drained into the container set back the

drain bolt and its washer. Tighten firmly.

• Wipe clean any fuel spilled.

Spark Plug

• Before removing the spark plug (

B

) clean the area

around the spark plug base to prevent dust and debris

entering the motor. Then, remove the spark plug with a

spark plug wrench included with the machine.

Clean carbon deposits from the spark plug electrodes.

Use a spark plug brush or a wire brush.

• Replace the old spark plug with a similar one if damaged,

worn, or if reusing it is dubious.

• Measure the gap existing between the electrodes. Use a

spark plug gauge. The distance between the central

electrode and the side electrode shall measure 0.03”

• Double check the spark plug washer is in good

condition. Insert back the spark plug manually to prevent

maladjustment.

After the spark plug is installed adjust with a spark plug

wrench to compress the washer.

                           • If installing a new spark plug, tighten

up to half a turn after the spark plug is in place and can

press the washer.  If installing a used spark plug, tighten

up to a 1/8 – 1/4 turn after the spark plug is in place and

can compress the washer.

                               • Maladjusted or out of range spark

plugs can overheat and damage the motor.

CAUTION

B

A

WARNING

• The fuel filter stops water or dust present in the fuel

tank from entering into the carburetor.  If the motor has

not been started after a long period of time, the

sediment container has to be cleaned:

• The motor shall be off and in ambient temperature.

Close the fuel key (

E

).

• Remove the sediment container (

F

). Clean the insides

altogether with the filter (

G

).

• Allow the filter and container to dry completely.

• Verify the washer (

H

) is in good condition.  Set the

sediment container and the fuel filter back into place.

• The external fuel filter shall be replaced according to

the maintenance program indicated in page 13.
