Calculation Type
The oven provides two methods for calculating
%Loss
: the
bitumen-to-sample
method and the
bitumen-to-aggregate
method. Both methods measure the difference in the sample
weights before and after the burn. However, the
bitumen-to-
sample
method expresses the difference as a percentage of the
starting mass
while the
bitumen-to-aggregate
method expresses
the difference as a percentage of the
final (aggregate) mass
.
