Assigning A Drive Letter Under Windows 98
Under W indows, when you connect the USB 2.0 Storage to your
computer, the system will automatically assign a drive letter to the device.
It does this dynamically, which means that the drive letter is not fixed
and could change if other devices are connected or added to the system.
You can assign a fixed drive letter to the device using the Windows
Device Manager.
To assign a fixed drive letter, do as follows:
1. Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop. A
context-sensitive menu will appear.
2. Click on Properties. The System Properties window will appear. Click
on the Device Manager tab.
3. Click on the device category in the Device Manager, for example,
Ò Disk drivesÓ .
4. Click on the device name for the device that is installed in the USB 2.
0 Storage then click on the Properties button to bring up its Device
Properties window.
5. Click on the Settings tab. Enter a drive letter assignment in the Re-
served drive letters section by selecting a drive letter for both the
Start and End drive letters. When you select the Start letter, the End
letter should automatically set to the same letter. If the drive letter
section is Ò grayed outÓ , click on the Removable check box in the
Options section above. The drive letter selection boxes will become
active.
