s
The following is prohibited:
s
• Use of a device which has stopped a fall and which has not
been overhauled.
• Protect several persons attached to a single clamp.
• Use the CORSO S for other purposes other than protection of
a person against falls.
• Work outside the 20°safety cone around the CORSO S clamp.
• Attaching oneself to the device by any means other than
the PPE attachment point.
• Fit the CORSO S on a slanted beam.
• Install the device on a support which is inappropriate, creating
a risk of damaging the parts forming the clamp.
• Repair the device using spare parts which have not been listed
or validated by TRACTEL.
• Allow use of the clamp by a person who is not qualified or who
is not perfectly familiar with the information in this manual.
• Using the device in operating conditions or an environment not
suitable for its characteristics.
• Use a clamp which is not in good condition (worn, seized or
showing deformations).
• Remove the safety devices from the clamp and use the device
without these safety devices.
• Secure the clamp to the beam by any other means other than
those described in this manual.
• Place the clamp on a beam for which the strength and condition
has not been checked beforehand.

Warnings against hazardous operations
CAUTION
• If the CORSO S clamp is used periodically on the same
beam, regularly inspect the beam.
• During use, protect your PPE against any risks connec-
ted with the working environment eg. thermal, electrical
or mechanical shocks, splashes of acid, etc.

1 person max. (PPE).
1. Offer the clamp on the beam.
2. Place one of the jaws on the beam flange.
3. Place the second jaw and turn the adjustment screw (2.figure
1) to tighten the jaws.
4. Hold the beam tight with the clamp jaws.
5. Tighten the locking screw (4.figure 1) using a BTR wrench.
Preparation for operation
• Check that the CORSO S clamp is properly positioned and loc-
ked on the beam.
• Check that the beam used can safely accept a force of 10 kN
per clamp.
Removal
After use, the CORSO S clamp must be removed.
1. Loosen the locking screw (4.figure 1).
2. Spread the jaws by turning the adjustment screw (2.figure1)
(caution with respect to weight of clamp when recovering
clamp).
While moving or working, the operator must remain in the wor-
king area. Angle
α
should not exceed 20° ie. d < 0.4xH (figure 2).
For any application other than those explicitly described
above, please contact your TRACTEL installer.
Before each use of the CORSO S clamp:
• Visual inspection of the device.
• Check the compatibility of the clamp with the equipment used.
• The clamp must be inspected in the event of a fall or if there is
any obvious deformation or any other change in appearance
(contact your TRACTEL installer).
• The standard recommends that the clamp be inspected regu-
larly, at least once a year, or more frequently if the utilization
conditions so require. This inspection must be performed by a
competent person who must also ensure that the markings are
perfectly readable. User safety is directly dependent on main-
taining the equipment's efficiency and strength.
Operation
CAUTION
• Before installing the clamp on a beam, the strength of the
materials of the beam must be calculated by a qualified per-
son. The support structure must be capable of withstanding
a static force of 10 kN per clamp. The structure must be vali-
dated at all points where a fall could occur.
• It is essential to ensure that the equipment used is suitable
for the clearance of the installation to prevent the operator
from hitting the ground in the event of a fall. Also make sure
that no obstacle is located in the fall trajectory.
• The operator must be in a safe position during installation
and removal of the CORSO S clamp.
• The beam must be horizontal (figure 2).
• The CORSO S clamp must be located above the user (figu-
re 2).

ry rescue operation could be efficiently and safely carried out.
