To reduce the possibility of
personal injury, follow the lifting
procedure. Place wheel chocks in
front of and behind the front wheels and check the
stability of the vehicle on the jack stands before
starting any repair procedure. Never work on any
vehicle that is supported by a jack alone (See
LIFTING THE VEHICLE on page 8).
NOTICE: In the following text, there are references
to removing/installing bolts etc. Additional hard-
ware (nuts, washers, etc.) that are removed must
always be installed in the original position unless
otherwise stated. Non specified torques are shown
in the torque table (See HARDWARE on page 4).
The rear suspension consists of the leaf springs,
shocks, and the hardware that secures these items
and mounts the leaf springs to the axle and to the
vehicle frame. The removal of the rear axle is also
covered in this section due to the nature of it being
interrelated to the suspension components.
