Piston clearance: 0.015 – 0.035 mm
(0.0006 – 0.0014 in.)
If not within specification, replace the pistons. If
necessary, rebore or replace the cylinder block.
HINT: (Use cylinder block sub–assembly)
When installing a standard piston, install one with the
same mark as the standard bore diameter mark on the
cylinder block.
3. MEASURE CLEARANCE BETWEEN PISTON
GROOVE AND PISTON RING
Using a thickness gauge, measure the clearance be–
tween the piston ring and the ring land.
Standard ring groove clearance: 0.03 – 0.07 mm
(0.0012 – 0.0028 in.)
Maximum ring groove clearance: 0.2 mm (0.008 in.)
If the clearance is greater than maximum, replace the
piston ring and/or piston.
