Learning the Basics

Using the DVD-ROM or multi-function drive

The 

TV

 button:

❖

Launches Windows Media Center and activates the TV 
interface, when the computer is powered on and 
Windows is running. For more information, see 

“Watching Television Programs” on page 192

.

❖

Launches the QosmioPlayer if the computer is not 
powered on. 

The 

CD/DVD

 button:

❖

Launches Windows Media Center and plays the CD or 
DVD, if one is inserted into the drive, when the computer 
is powered on and Windows is running. For more 
information, see 

“Listening to Music” on page 204

.

❖

Launches the QosmioPlayer if the computer is not 
powered on.

The 

Play/pause 

button starts playing the disc or makes it 

pause if currently playing.

The 

Stop/eject 

button stops a disc that is currently playing.

The 

Previous track 

button returns to the preceding track on 

the disc.

The 

Next track 

button skips to the following track on the 

disc.

The 

Record 

button records television programs which are 

currently being viewed.

The 

Brightness 

buttons adjust the screen brightness. These 

buttons do not function when QosmioPlayer is running.

The 

Monitor In 

button is pressed to establish the connection 

with an external output video device.

The 

TV Out 

button directs the display to an external display 

device. This button does not function when QosmioPlayer is 
running.
