System Configuration
Setup

Your Toshiba Magnia 550D server is configured before it leaves the factory. However, you
will need to reconfigure the system if you add or remove devices.

Setup

Setup is a program that sets system passwords and configures the hard disk drives and
peripherals attached to the server.

The configuration data created by Setup is stored in CMOS memory which is powered by
an internal battery.

The configuration data is retained by the internal battery. However, if the internal battery
discharges or is replaced, Setup will revert to the system’s default values. To ensure your
ability to restore your system’s configuration, copy the data and store it in a safe place.

NOTE: Failure to properly setup the server may result in the server malfunctioning.

HINT: The screens in this chapter are examples. Your screens may look slightly
different.
