System startup

System startup

You can start the server from the hard disk drive, floppy disk drive, or CD-ROM drive.

Starting up from the floppy disk drive

Insert a startup diskette into the floppy disk drive.

2

Turn on the power.

Starting from the HDD (must have an operating system installed)

Check that the floppy disk and CD-ROM drives are empty.

Turn on the power.

Starting from a bootable CD-ROM

1

Make sure the floppy disk drive is empty.

2

Press the Power button to turn on the server.

3

Press the Stop/Eject button on the CD-ROM drive and insert a bootable startup CD.

If the startup CD is not recognized, simultaneously press the Ctrl, Alt, and Del keys
to restart the server, and check the server's boot order in the BIOS setup program in
the "BIOS FEATURES SETUP" menu.

TECHNICAL NOTE: If a bootable startup CD is detected during system start-up,
the server will not boot from the hard disk drive, even if you remove the CD from the
CD-ROM drive. To boot from the hard disk drive, restart the server.
