3. Remove the dipstick from the filler neck and
wipe it with a clean rag.
4. Insert the dipstick into the filler neck; then
remove it and check the fluid level.
Note:
The fluid level should be within 6 mm
(1/4 inch) of the mark on the dipstick.
5. If the level is low, add the specified fluid to raise
the level to the full mark; refer to
Hydraulic Fluid
Specifications (page 59) .
Important:
Do not overfill the hydraulic
reservoir.
6. Install the dipstick and cap onto the filler neck.

Changing the Hydraulic
Fluid
Service Interval: Every 2,000 hours— If you
are using the recommended
hydraulic fluid,
change the
hydraulic fluid.
Every 800 hours— If you are not using the
recommended hydraulic fluid or have ever
filled the reservoir with an alternative fluid,
change the hydraulic fluid.
WARNING
Hot hydraulic fluid can cause severe burns.
Allow the hydraulic fluid to cool before
performing any maintenance to the hydraulic
system.
If the fluid becomes contaminated, contact your
local Toro distributor because the system must be
flushed. Contaminated fluid looks milky or black when
compared to clean oil.
1. Prepare the machine for maintenance; refer to
Preparing for Maintenance (page 41) .
2. Disconnect the large hydraulic hose ( Figure 92 )
from the reservoir, and let the hydraulic fluid flow
into a drain pan.

3. Install the hydraulic hose when hydraulic fluid
stops draining.
4. Fill the reservoir ( Figure 93 ) with approximately
22.7 L (6 US gallons) of hydraulic fluid; refer to
Hydraulic Fluid Specifications (page 59) .
Important:
Use only the hydraulic fluids
specified. Other fluids could cause system
damage.
