2.

Clean around the spark plug, and remove the
plug from the cylinder head.

Important:

Replace a cracked, fouled, or

dirty spark plug. Do not sand blast, scrape,
or clean the electrodes, because engine
damage could result from grit entering the
cylinder.

3.

Set the air gap to 0.70 to 0.80 mm
(0.028 to 0.031 inch)
(

4.

Install the correctly gapped spark plug carefully
by hand, to avoid cross-threading.

5.

After the spark plug is seated, tighten it with
a spark-plug wrench to compress the sealing
washer.

When installing a new spark plug, tighten
it 1/2 turn after the spark plug seats, to
compress the washer.

When installing the original spark plug,
tighten it 1/8 to 1/4 turn after the spark plug
seats, to compress the washer.

Note:

A loose spark plug can overheat and

damage the engine. Overtightening the spark
plug can damage the threads in the cylinder
head.

6.

Connect the spark-plug wire to the spark plug.
