3. Gently push the hydraulic hoses aside and lift the
battery out of the chassis.
Danger
Battery electrolyte contains sulfuric acid which is
a deadly poison and causes severe burns.
•
Do not drink electrolyte and avoid contact with
skin, eyes or clothing. Wear safety glasses to
shield your eyes and rubber gloves to protect
your hands.
•
Fill the battery where clean water is always
available for flushing the skin.
4. Remove the filler caps from the battery (Fig. 4).
5. Slowly pour electrolyte into each battery cell until the
level is up to the upper line (Fig. 4) on the battery
case.
Important
Do not overfill the battery because
electrolyte (sulfuric acid) can cause severe corrosion and
damage to the chassis.
6. Wait five to ten minutes after filling the battery cells.
Add electrolyte, if necessary, until the electrolyte level
is up to the upper line (Fig. 4) on the battery case.
7. Install battery filler caps.

8. Make sure the filler caps are installed in the battery.
Charge the battery for 10 to 15 minutes at 25 to 30
amps or 30 minutes at 4–6 amps. Do not overcharge
the battery.
Charging the battery produces gasses that can
explode.
Never smoke near the battery and keep sparks
and flames away from battery.
Warning
9. When the battery is fully charged, unplug the charger
from the electrical outlet, then disconnect the charger
leads from the battery posts (Fig. 5).

10. Install the battery into the chassis (Fig. 3).
11. Secure the battery with the bar and wing nuts removed
previously (Fig. 3).
12. Using the bolt and wing nut supplied with the battery,
connect the positive (red) cable to the positive (+)
battery post (Fig. 3). Slide the rubber cover over the
battery post.
Incorrect battery cable routing could damage the
traction unit and cables, causing sparks. Sparks
can cause the battery gasses to explode, resulting
in personal injury.
•
Always disconnect the negative (black) battery
cable before disconnecting the positive (red)
cable.
•
Always connect the positive (red) battery cable
before connecting the negative (black) cable.
Warning
13. Using the bolt and wing nut supplied with the battery,
connect the negative (black) cable to the negative (–)
battery post (Fig. 3).
