c) Potential equalization
The jack socket (14) is used for potential equalization. The following operating modes are available:

The jack socket is not used and no plug is

The soldering tips on the soldering iron and
soldering tweezers are directly connected to
the power cable's earth contact.
Potential equaliza-
tion
The jack socket is connected directly to the
earth via the 3.5 mm plug and a cable.
The soldering tips on the soldering iron and
soldering tweezers are directly connected to
the earth.
Potential-free
The 3.5 mm plug is inserted into the jack
socket, but nothing is connected to the
plug.
No earthing/potential equalization; the solder-
ing tips on the soldering iron and soldering
tweezers are potential-free.
Soft grounded
The jack socket is connected to the earth
via the 3.5 mm plug and a resistor (e.g.
1 MΩ or 150 kΩ)
The soldering tips on the soldering iron and
soldering tweezers are are connected to the
earth via the selected resistance value.
The jack plug (may already be inserted into the corresponding socket on the back of the soldering station
upon delivery) has numerous soldering contacts. These are connected internally in the soldering station. It
is therefore irrelevant which jack plug contacts you use.
d) Mains connection
• Switch off the soldering station (move the on/off switch to the “O” position).
• Use the mains cable provided to connect the soldering station to a standard earthed mains socket which is con-
nected to the public grid (wall-mounted socket)
• Turn on the soldering station (move the on/off switch to the “I” position). The display will switch on and show a
welcome message for a few seconds. It will then show the normal display.
