User Guide for your Recliner or Sofa
Congratulations! You are the proud owner of a recliner from Sitting Vision. We wish you a great deal of comfortable relaxation
and enjoyment of your recliner. Please read this entire guide carefully first, before making use of your new recliner. The Smart
collection includes a matching sofa. This guide discusses the recliner, but the information also applies to the sofa*.
* Sofas do not include the stand-up assist feature!
1. First use of the recliner
1.1
Location
a.
The recliner must be placed on a level floor. Take account of the nature of the floor surface when placing
the chair. In the case of floors vulnerable to scratching it is advisable to stick felt protectors to the feet to
prevent damage. We cannot be held responsible for damage to floors caused by the recliner.
Never lift your recliner by the armrests. When moving the recliner, lift it from underneath the armrests or the
side panel.
b.
If you purchased a battery powered recliner, your battery should be charged after unpacking your recliner.
Once the chair is unpacked you should charge the battery, as it is not fully charged at the factory.
The charging procedure is explained in paragraph 3.3.
c.
If your electrically powered adjustable recliner includes a transformer, connect it directly to your chair first,
and then place the plug in an outlet.
d.
Do not place your recliner in direct sunlight or too near a fireplace or wood stove as this may cause
discoloration or warping of the chair.
1.2
Safety
Ensure that children or pets cannot become trapped by moving parts when operating the recliner. Do not allow
children to operate or play with the chair!
2. Operating the recliner
2.1
Recliner with Gas Spring
If you purchased a recliner with a gas spring, you can operate the backrest with the metal handle (Illus. 1), and the
footrest by shifting your weight. In order to extend the footrest, place your hands on the armrests of the recliner and
push your body against the back of the chair, and the footrest will extend. Operate the backrest by pushing the handle
back, and leaning gently against the backrest of the chair with your back. The backrest slowly reclines. Release the
handle when you reach your preferred position. The backrest will lock in place. In order to retract the footrest, move
your body forward slightly and push the footrest down with your legs. To return the backrest to an upright position,
move your back away from the chair and push back the handle. The backrest will move forward.

Dual Motor Recliners
If you selected a recliner with two motors, the first motor is used to adjust the backrest, and the second motor extends
and retracts the footrest. A standard feature of dual motor recliners is the operating panel in the upper left armrest.
Depending on the model, operating controls may also be located in the seat. The front two buttons operate the
footrest, and the back two buttons operate the backrest. (Illus. 2)
