Chapter 3: Operating the IP Handset

IP Handset menus

To display the signal strength

The handset display can show the signal
strength of the BGAN satellite signal when
the handset is not in use.

To display the signal strength in the handset,
do as follows:

1. From the main menu, select

BGAN

2. Select

CNo

The handset now shows a full screen with the signal strength of the BGAN
signal.

Voice Distress system only: To make a Voice Distress test

If you have a BGAN terminal, a SAILOR 3771 Alarm Panel and a subscription
that includes Voice Distress, you can test the Voice Distress function.

The handset must show

(designated for Distress) to be able to make

Voice Distress calls.

For details on how to make a Voice Distress test, see the user manual for the
Voice Distress system.

EXPLORER 727 only: To change the terminal usage

If the connected BGAN terminal is an EXPLORER 727 terminal, you can switch
between the usage modes Standard and BGAN X-Stream, using the Terminal
usage menu item.

For information on the usage modes, see the user manual for the EXPLORER
727 system.

Note

While the signal strength screen is
displayed, the screensaver is
disabled.
