5.1 Principal modes of operation
The ECL1525 offers three principal modes of operation :
•
Parked mode
•
Sweep mode. The wavelength is tuned between two choosen channels
•
Channel sweep mode. The wavelength is swept within a channel
The mode is choosen in the
Operate window.
5.1.1 Parked mode
In this mode you can set the wavelength and the power. The wavelength changes will
be done at maximum sweep speed.
The internal wavelength reference makes sure that the wavelength always is within
the specified absolute accuracy value ( see section 1.4 ).
The absolute accuracy is better when the wavelength unit is set to “channel”.
Note
The Parked mode is the only mode where the dither functions can be
used.
5.1.2 Sweep Channel mode
In this mode will the laser sweep over the channel it is set to. Which channel to
sweep channel must be choosen in the parked mode. The speed and the start/stop
of the sweep are the only settings you can change in this mode.
5.1.3 Sweep Between Channels
In this mode you can tune the laser continuously over the range you choose with the
“start wavelength” and “stop wavelength” controls. Even if these controls can be
changed during sweeping, the actual sweep range will not be updated until the tuning
is stopped and then started again. The tuning speed can also be changed when the
sweep is stopped.
