Verify that the landing gear tubes have a plastic cover at the bottom end to protect
them during landing. Verify that they are in good condition.

Electronics and batteries
o
Check all visible wires
▪
Check for discolouration which could indicate electronical failure.
▪
Smell all components of STORMBEE. If a burned smell is present, this indicates
an electronic failure of that component.
▪
Ensure all wires are firmly attached, their connectors are in good condition
and no metal parts of the wires are exposed.
o
Check all flight batteries are ok and fully charged:
▪
Verify the batteries are not swollen, and connectors and wires are in good
condition (not deformed nor charred black).
▪
Check battery (charge) level using battery voltage checker.
o
Check DJI LED and GNSS LED are in good condition
o
(Temporarily) mount the batteries and check STORMBEE
’s mass and
that its Centre of
Gravity position is within allowed limits.
6.
Check the condition of the Lightbridge 2 remote controller and tablet:
o
Check it’s general state:
no parts are loose, antennas Lightbridge ok.
o
Set flight mode switch to P-GPS
o
Check battery voltage level of both Lightbridge 2 and tablet. For Lightbridge 2 press
the power button once (short) and look at its series of four LEDs showing its battery
level. Four led up LEDs means the battery is full, no illuminated LEDs means the battery
is completely drained. Two out of four LEDS means the battery is half charged.
o
Check the condition of the USB cable.

Check condition of accessories such as battery charger and power generator if batteries need
to be charged on-site to enable more flights during one mission.

Check the condition of the FARO Focus3D scanner. Ensure there is no damage and it is in good
working condition. Verify the mirror is clean and has no scratches on it.
9.
Check the condition of the laser range finder binocular.
10.
Put the STORMBEE, FARO Focus scanner and their accessories in the appropriate transport
cases. To dismount the FARO Focus scanner from underneath STORMBEE after flight, loosen
the four bolts through the top plate of STORMBEE with the correct hex key tool while holding
the FARO Focus scanner.
11.
Ensure that the pilot has appropriate clothing and emergency supplies:
o
Food and (non-alcoholic) drinks
o
Sunglasses
o
Appropriate clothing (warm versus cold weather)
o
Sunscreen
o
Anti-mosquito spray
o
Mobile phone with emergency contact details pre-programmed
o
High visibility markers to cordon off take-off and landing zone
o
High visibility safety jackets for pilot and crew
o
Gloves during cold weather
. Most gloves don’t work well for operating the tablet, so
cut out the top of one or two fingers of the glove if required.
o
First aid kit suitable for dressing cuts, wounds and bruises
