SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION – MASTER AND STARTER SWITCH(ES)
The Master / Starter switch in 912 iS equipped aircraft provides the following
functionality:
Activates the starter.
Connects / disconnects the main battery to the main bus.
Note that in the case of 912 iS powered aircraft the charge system output is
directly connected to the main bus (via a circuit breaker), and not via the master
switch as in 912 ULS engined aircraft.
This implies that, with the Master switch turned off:
The main bus remains powered, provided that the charge system output is
operational. In the case where Alternator B is used to power the EMS /
ECU (i.e. Alternator A failed), power may not be available the main bus, or
reduced power may be available. Also see
SUPPLEMENTARY
INFORMATION – ALTERNATOR FAILURE
and
SUPPLEMENTARY
INFORMATION – MAIN BUS POWER FAILURE
in this supplement.
The battery is disconnected from the main bus and charge system output.
