SERVICE

REMOVING THE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY

FOR SAFETY: Before leaving or servicing 
machine, stop on level surface, turn off 
machine, set parking brake, and remove key.

NOTE: Parking brake assembly can be accessed 
from either the left or right side of the machine.

1.  Raise the cab. See 

TILTING THE CAB WITH 

THE CAB JACK (OPTION) 

for machine 

equipped with the optional cab jack and

 

TILTING THE CAB MANUALLY f

or machines 

not equipped with the optional cab jack.

2.  Jack up the side of the machine to be used for 

removing the parking brake assembly, place a 
jack stand under the machine, and lower the 
machine onto the jack stand. See MACHINE 
JACKING in the MAINTENANCE section for 
additional information

FOR SAFETY: When servicing machine, block 
machine tires before jacking machine up. Use 
a hoist or jack that will support the weight of 
the machine. Jack machine up at designated 
locations only. Support machine with jack 
stands.

3.  Remove a front tire from the machine to allow 

easier access to the parking brake assembly.

4.  If applicable (depending on which side of 

machine is to be used for accessing/removing 
the parking brake), remove the side brush dust 
control skirt assembly from the machine.

5.  If applicable (depending on which side of 

machine is to be used for accessing/removing 
the parking brake), remove the side brush from 
the machine.

6.  Remove the front dust control skirt from the 

machine.

7.  Disconnect the hydraulic hose from the bottom 

of the parking brake assembly.

NOTE: To prevent contaminants from entering 
hydraulic system, thoroughly clean outside of 
hydraulic components before disconnecting 
hydraulic hoses or fi ttings. Cap disconnected 
hoses and open ports and fl ush hoses and fi ttings 
with air, solvent, or hydraulic fl uid.

NOTE: Discard all hydraulic fl uid drained from 
the hydraulic system. Use only new approved 
hydraulic fl uid to replenish hydraulic reservoir.
