Physical Installation
Desktop Installation
The ONT180C can simply be placed on top of a desk, a table, a shelf, or any similar
object. An optional Wall Mounting Bracket can be used to store excess fiber cable
length under the ONT as it sits on a desk or other surface.
Mounted to a Wall
The ONT180C can be attached to a wall, a desk or table, or to some other surface using
the optional Wall Mounting Bracket and screws.
Note:
Make sure that the owner of the building or the owner of the individual unit or
furniture is aware that holes will be drilled and screws and/or wall anchors will be used to
mount the ONT to a wall or to furniture before beginning installation.
Before mounting the ONT180C, decide on the best orientation for access and ease of
use. Up to 11 cables may be attached to the rear edge of the ONT. Also orienting it
such that the user can see the LED Indicators on the top of the unit is helpful for
troubleshooting.
Installing the Mounting Bracket
1. Place the Wall Mounting Bracket on the surface it will be attached to. Position the
bracket so that is will hold the ONT in the desired orientation. The long edge of
the bracket that has the entrance and exit holes for the optical fiber cable should
be at the back of the ONT (near the connectors).
2. Select at least two holes in the bottom of the bracket and mark the mounting
surface.
3. Carefully drill holes in the marked locations appropriate for the fasteners that will
be used.
4. Install drywall or masonry anchors in their holes if they will be used.
5. Hold the bracket in position and secure with screws through the selected holes.
