VIP conference units can only be assigned by a conference
manager which has a PC with the microphone management
software installed. Please refer to the software user’s guide to the
TMS5500 for more information.
Working with chairman conference units
Priority: The chairman unit works in the same way as the delegate
unit, but has three extra options. The first extra option is the PRIOR
button. The prior button can be used in two ways. It can be used to
mute all currently active delegate microphones or is can be used to
deactivate all of the active delegate microphones.
All the active microphones of the delegates will be deactivated
when you press the PRIOR button and release it quickly. Just
tapping the PRIOR button will do just that.
By keeping the PRIOR button pressed down, you can mute all
active delegate microphones. When you release the PRIOR button,
then all muted delegate microphones will become active again. All
requests for the floor are ignored while all delegate microphones
are muted. Once the PRIOR button is released, the conference can
proceed again in its normal operation.
The interpreter menu - overview
Next to the conferencing functionalities of the TCS5500 Digital
Conference & Interpretation System we have an interpreter system.
The interpreter system works closely with the interpreter desk units
(ID5500), so you have to have access to these units when you want
to use the interpreter system.
Usage
We will explain how the interpreter system is used with an
example. Let’s suppose we are in a conference room where three
different languages are spoken and where the participants of the
conference do not understand a language different from their native
tongue. The three spoken languages are English, French and
German.
Let us now suppose that six interpreters are at our disposal and that
we have six interpreter units for the interpreters to use.
The good way to set up the interpreter terminals is to divide them
in three separate booths. Three booths are set up with, in each
booth, two desks. We allow the interpreters to relieve each other by
setting up two desks in a booth. The booth and desk number is
configured on the interpreter desk (ID5500 unit) while you are in
the initialization mode.
