Using the Power/Telemetry Module
The Q/Z-1250 may be configured with an optional Power/Telemetry module to enable use of externally
powered sensors and sensors that require external radio data transmission.
Overview
The Power/Telemetry module is a self-contained unit with battery and Bluetooth radio inside. A shore
Bluetooth radio is required for telemetry and may be provided with the system depending on the configu-
ration. The module has two data ports, a battery charging port, an antenna connector, and a power but-
ton. See Instrument Installation for details on configuration-specific connections.

Power/Telemetry Module Overview
Setup
The Power/Telemetry module should be fully charged before use. See Charging the Power/Telemetry
Module. The Q/Z-1250 Power/Telemetry module is recommended to be used with the SD1000U USB
Bluetooth adapter. Other Bluetooth radios may be used with the module if desired.
All instruments connected to the Power/Telemetry Module (RiverRay, RiverPro, Single Beam Echo
Sounder, or GPS) should be configured to output data with Baud rate 115,200.
With all instrument connections made (see Instrument Installation), depress the power button to turn on
the module. The power button will glow blue when the module is powered on. The module will now pro-
vide power to connected instrumentation and its internal Bluetooth radio will be active. If the module has
already been paired to a SD1000U which is also powered on, their connection will re-establish automati-
cally. If a new SD1000U or one with Mode set to 0 is used, it can be connected to the Q/Z-1250
Power/Telemetry module now.
