The following tools are required to perform this procedure:
•
5/32” hex wrench;
•
3/32” hex wrench.
Perform the following procedure to adjust/fine-tune the horizontal alignment:
1.
If necessary, remove the Micrometer Compartment cover (see
) to access the
height adjustment screws illustrated in
.
2.
If the image is off-center to the
LEFT
, alternately loosen the right-hand screw and
tighten the left-hand screw until the image is centered about the center column of the
camera.
CAUTION!
!
Adjust ONLY the two screws specified in
.
Adjustments to other screws may result in severe misalignment of
the instrument.
If the image is still positioned too far to the left, continue making incremental
adjustments to these two screws until the image is properly centered.
3.
If the image is off-center to the
RIGHT
, alternately loosen the left-hand screw and
tighten the right-hand screw until the image is centered.
CAUTION!
!
Adjust ONLY the two screws specified in
.
Adjustments to other screws may result in severe misalignment of
the instrument.
If the image is still positioned too far to the right, continue making incremental
adjustments to these two screws until the image is properly centered.
5.7 Single-Point Detector Mounting Instructions
Single-point detectors (e.g., a PD-438,) mount directly
to the optional exit slit with mounting plate assembly
of the IsoPlane monochromator. Because the
outcoming beam path exits from the focusing mirror at 15
degrees to the housing, the slit assembly is secured to a
tapered mounting plate at the exit port.
Perform the following procedure to mount a
single-point detector:
1.
Position the detector so its labels are upright (the
optical axis is not vertically centered).
2.
Mount the detector directly to the exit slit
assembly that has already been mounted to the
tapered mounting plate at the exit port so its four
mounting holes are properly aligned with the
tapped mounting holes on the slit assembly.
3.
Use a 9/64” hex wrench to tighten four (4) 8-32
mounting screws.
The detector should now be mounted correctly.
