2.6 USB Functions
The USB port located on the front panel of the device is dedicated primarily to connect external storage devices with USB 2.0
interface in order to record free-to-view tuner built into the receiver or play media.
2.6.1 Use and warnings
Before proceeding with the use of a mass storage USB as a hard-disk (Hard Disk-HDD Driver) or a flash/memory stick, follow
these important rules and warnings below.
2.6.1.1 Connection and disk formatting
The USB device must be formatted in FAT32 and to take advantage of the video recording function (par. 2.6.2 ), it must have
a free memory capacity suited to the needs.
At the first connection of a USB memory device or after any formatting, the receiver will create a folder named
HBPVR
that
will be used by the same as archive recordings.
WARNINGS
It is recommended to use hard drives with external power supply, as the only USB port of the receiver cannot guarantee
proper power supply: The risk is to damage the disk and/or receiver!
The receiver is only compatible with USB storage devices formatted with FAT32 File System.
Compatibility is not guaranteed with all USB memory devices on the market.
2.6.1.2 Disk Removal
For a safe removal of the memory, in order to avoid damage of the device or a file, it is advisable to disconnect the USB
memory only during the idle USB port (no registration, no reproduction) when the receiver is in standby with USB port power
off.
WARNING
The removal of memory while writing (recording) or read data (reproduction) can damage the contents and the devices
involved.
2.6.2 Personal Video Recording (PVR)
Before proceeding with the use of a mass storage USB as a hard-disk (Hard Disk-HDD Driver) or a flash/memory stick, follow
these important rules and warnings given in par. 2.6.1.
2.6.2.1 Recording TV Programs
NOTES
The receiver is equipped with a single TV tuner. While recording, it will display a different channel, provided the latter is
broadcast on the same frequency in channel recording.
Broadcasters may decide to prohibit the registration for issues related to the protection of copyright.
Registration is allowed only for TV channels transmitted in plain text, not encrypted TV channels or radio.
Instant recording
To start recording manually, tune into the desired channel and press the
REC
button. To stop the recording, press the
STOP
button and confirm.
Scheduled recording
You can schedule multiple timer recordings manually (or, alternatively, by simple vision) by accessing the menu timer
programming related directly with the remote control
TIMER
or EPG menu with the
RED
key (
Book
). Refer to paragraph 2.7.
2.6.2.2 Playback of recorded content
Recorded files are saved in the USB memory dedicated to recording and can be retrieved by accessing the
HBPVR
folder
from the menu

Pressing

on a recording, playback will start. Press
RED
to switch from preview mode to display the internal screen and
vice versa.
When reading, use the arrow keys

(PLAY/PAUSE) to pause/resume the vision,

(REW/FWD) to rewind/fast forward

(STOP) to stop playback. In addition, the
BLUE
button lets you change the playback mode (loop/single/folder/random).
Instead, when viewing the list of recorded files, use the
GREEN
keys to rename a recording,
YELLOW
and
OK
to select and
confirm the cancellation of one or more files.
