Only two fields are strictly necessary: type the DNS
address in
numeric format
into the
DNS Address 1
field, and the address (numeric or alphanumeric) of
a server that supports the time protocol into
Time
Server
.
Important:
do NOT type anything into the other
DNS Address or into the Gateway fields. This will
prevent the unit from successfully establishing a
PPP dial-up connection.
If your ISP does not run a Time Server, use one of the following addresses:
wwvb.erg.sri.com ; bitsy.mit.edu; ntp0.cornell.edu;
sundial.columbia.edu; heechee.esa.lanl.gov
bernina.ethz.ch; ntp.univ-lyon1.fr; ntp0.strath.ac.uk; ntps1-
0.cs.tu-berlin.de; time1.stupi.se
See http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/clock1.html for more
addresses.
If your ISP has a proxy server, you can type the full URL into the
Proxy
field, starting with “http://”
and including the port number (e.g. “http://proxy.myprovider.com:1234/”). Leave the
CHAP
Server
field empty to use the default PAP for router-level user authentication. If your ISP
supports CHAP authentication, specify only the name of the machine (i.e. without the domain)
running the CHAP Authentication Server in this field. When a CHAP server is specified, the
CHAP protocol is tried first and, if it fails, it falls back into PAP
.
If your Internet Access Provider requires
VJ Compression
of the TCP/IP headers, you can
specify this by checking the appropriate box.
Please note:
if you want to manually configure the unit, be sure you have all this necessary
information in advance. If one of the required parameters is missing or is incorrect, the unit will
hang while attempting to connect to the router (presumably an authentication problem due to a
wrong Account ID or Password) or while attempting to load the Home Page
(indicating a problem
in resolving the IP address, likely due to a wrong DNS Server entry). If this happens, turn the unit
off and then back on by pressing the Power key on the remote control, get into Set-Up and
correct the problem. If the unit hangs during the power off/on sequence, disconnect and then
reconnect the power supply plug in the back of the unit.

email protocol supported by your Internet Service
Provider. The
Expire
field is used to specify how
many days the emails are allowed to stay on the
server(s) before being automatically deleted (put a
