b) Crush hazard
A sign indicating the risk of crushing, as reported above, is located
on the machine. Such a risk may exist at the following points/phases:
- in the area of the head of the riveting machine during chain positioning
- in the stroke adjustment area during riveting
- during handling and set-up of the machine itself or its parts.
Remember that the use of the protective equipment provided (gloves
and goggles) is mandatory, and all procedures for the correct
performance of the work cycle must be followed.
4.3 EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Below are some standard procedures which should be put into action
in the case of injury following the use of the machine:
1 - Call the emergency services;
2 - Assess the victim and, if necessary, sustain his or her vital functions;
3 - To stop external bleeding:
a. Expose and treat the wound by carefully cleaning it, disinfecting
it using saline solution, and dressing it using sterile gauzes; then
bandage the wound, avoiding over-tightening the bandage to
allow a good flow;
b. When disinfecting the wound, DO NOT use cotton wool,
methylated spirit, or antibiotic powder
4 - Protect wounds and burns;
5 - Protect the victim from further harm;
6 - Do not perform unnecessary or harmful actions, such as
administering drinks, moving the victim, or setting dislocations
and/or fractures, etc.
The main action should be to call the emergency services. Follow
the instructions provided by the specialist personnel in order to
successfully perform first aid.
5 PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
- The machine must never be used to caulk or rivet anything but chain
saw.
- Do not force the riveting machine during the work cycle.
- The machine must only be used as described in the
“Start-up”
chapter.
- The machine cannot operate at voltages other than those indicated.
6 TRANSPORT
- The machine is supplied in two recyclable cardboard boxes. One
contains the motor unit and the other contains the support structures.
These boxes must be handled carefully and should not be knocked
during movement.
7 INSTALLATION
The machine is delivered in two separate packages: the motor unit
package and frame unit package.
The following components are found inside the motor unit: electric
motor directly installed on its support and a pack containing the head
holders
A
and
B
with corresponding rivet holders plus the transparent
protective shield.
The following components are found inside the frame unit:
- no. 1 chain support plane
(photo 1 item 1)
- no. 1 right upright
(photo 1 item 2)
- no. 1 left upright
(photo 1 item 3)
- no. 2 supporting frames complete with adjustable feet
(photo 1 item 4)
- no. 1 pedal crossbar
(photo 1 item 5)
- no. 1 pedal
(photo 1 item 6)
- no. 1 x rod with two forks
(photo 1 part 7)
- no. 1 x hardware pack with screws and washers required to assemble
the frame and fasten the motor unit to the frame
- no. 3 chain stop jaws
(photo 1 item 8)
- no. 1 chain support guide
(photo 1 item 9)
Follow the instructions provided in the images from
2
to
9
to assemble
the frame.
Follow the instructions provided in the images from
10
to
19
to assemble
the machine:
1 - attach the motor unit to the frame with the 4 x M8x16 screws and 4
x grower washers provided
(photos 11 and 12).
2 - slide the chain support plane under the head holder shaft
(photo 13)
,
position it correctly on the two uprights and fasten with 2 x M5x15
screws
(photo 14).
3 - take the three chain stop jaws provided
(item 8)
, place them one on
top of the other and, using 2 M6x25 screws, fasten them onto the
chain support plane, making sure to position them correctly by turning
the shaped side towards the motor support
(photos 15 and 16).
4 - take the chain support guide
(item 9)
and rest it on the plane,
checking that the radial-shaped slot is facing the motor support.
Line up the guide slots with the two holes in the plane below,
insert 2 x M5x15 screws from above and fasten everything
(photos 17
and
18).
5 - fasten the upper fork to the two flanges with the supplied pin and
split pin
(photo 19).
8 HEAD HOLDER AND RIVET HOLDER ASSEMBLY
The machine is supplied with: disassembled head holder, rivet
holder and protective shield.
The motor package includes a head and a rivet holder
(type A)
to be
used for chains
(see photo 1)
and a head and a rivet holder
(type B)
to be used for chains
(see photo 2)
.
To assemble the three components mentioned above, follow the
instructions provided below:
1 - choose the head and rivet holder according to the type of chain to
be riveted.
2 - manually screw the heads on the shaft until it stops
(photo 20).
3 - take a No. 13 spanner and a No. 22 spanner.
4 - slightly lower the head with the pedal, take the No. 13 spanner with
your left hand and lock the head holder shaft
(photo 21)
.
5 - take the No. 22 spanner with your right hand, and tighten the
assembly by working on the head holder hex
(photo 22).
6 - choose the rivet holder corresponding to the installed head and fit
it into its seat
(photo 23).
7 - take the transparent protective shield provided and remove the two
protective films
(photo 24).
8 - take a cross-tip screwdriver of the appropriate size to fasten the
screws.
9 - fasten the protective shield to the support at the three points indicated
in
(photo 25)
, using the three self-tapping screws provided.
WARNING:
the transparent shield is a protective device for both your
eyes and your hands. It is forbidden to operate the machine without
the shield since it is an important safety device. In this case, the
Manufacturer cannot be held liable for any accident caused by the
absence of the shield.
NOTE:
the rivet holder positions itself freely in its seat, and can be
replaced without removing the protective shield and the head.
Never use the machine with head and rivet holder of a different
type.
9 PRELIMINARY ADJUSTMENTS
(WARNING: all adjustments must be made with the power cable
unplugged)
1 - adjust the four feet of the structure so that the machine is stable and
does not rock during operation
(photo 26).
2 - after making sure that the electrical system conforms to applicable
standards (in particular, it must be equipped with differential
protection (circuit breaker) and the mains voltage must be the
voltage indicated on the machine’s data plate), the power cable can
be plugged into the system socket.
The rod unit with adjustable forks was designed to adjust the distance
of the pedal from the floor
