9. MAINTENANCE
9.1. Boiler maintenance
IMPORTANT
DISCONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY MAINTENANCE.
WARNING DANGER OF SCALDING
The machine must only be cleaned when cold (generator switched off for at least 5 hours), in the
following manner: (for this reason we advise you to perform maintenance at the start of the next
use, provided that at least 5 hours have passed between one use and the next).
The appliance is equipped with a maintenance warning system, which informs the user of the need to
clean the boiler. The system is programmed to signal this condition after 20 effective working hours, the
display will show “C A L C ”.
When this warning is displayed, the machine can in any case be used, completing the job started, then
switch off the appliance at the main switch and remove the power plug.
Place a suitably sized basin under the machine and remove the drainage cap (12) underneath, and wait
for the boiler to be emptied completely.
Clean any dirt off the cap with running water, check that the seal on the bottom of the cap is in good
condition and replace if necessary (contact your supplier for spare parts) and screw the cap back on the
machine.
If the water used has a hardness of over 10 French degrees (depending on product use,> 2 hours/day)
water must be treated with special water softeners, these devices can reduce the calcium carbonate
content of the water to below 4 French degrees to significantly improve the reliability of the steam
generator. (For further details or to purchase a softener filter, please contact the manufacturer).
After cleaning, plug the power plug (1) back into the electrical socket and press the main switch (4) and
buttons . Remember to also activate the minimum steam button (31 on July and Radames)
on the hand grip by pressing the safety button (30 on July and Radames or 83 on Geyser) to bleed out
any air in the empty boiler. Wait for the recharge cycle to be completed (approximately 3 min.).
After completing boiler maintenance, proceed by following the instructions described in paragraph (h) of
chapter 8.
It is advisable to completely empty the water tank (7) if the machine is to be left unused for a prolonged
period of time.
