4 The TG234 wireless access point
Introduction
This chapter describes how to establish a wireless connection with your TG234.
The 5 GHz video bridge
The TG234 will set up your wireless connection using IEEE 802.11ac wireless 5 GHz.
The 5 GHz band regulations allow higher output power compared to the 2.4GHz band which is currently still the most
popular frequency band for WLAN networks. The high power solution allows you to take full advantage of the 5 GHz band
which translates into better performance making it a reliable carrier for video streams.
Furthermore, its scalable architecture guarantees a very low packet error rate on the wireless link for seamless high-speed
wireless HD video streaming inside the home.

Keep your wireless connection secure!
When using an unsecured connection:
Everyone who is within the range of your TG234 can access your network.
People may use your connection to access the Internet.
Hackers may use your connection to commit computer crimes.
By default, the TG234 is uses a secure wireless connection. We recommend you not to change these settings. If needed, you
can change the default wireless key that is used to secure your connection. For more information, see
“4.4 Securing your
wireless connection” on page 43
.
