Problem/ Condition
Possible Interpretations
What to do
No video on multiple channels.
If the channels are supposed to be
coming from the same slot, it could
mean a problem with that COM24
card
If the channels are on different cards,
it could mean an RF signaling
problem
If the channels are on different cards,
it could mean a guide acquisition
problem
Verify that the PWR and Tuner LEDs
behave as expected
Verify that there are no authorization
problems with the affected cards. If there
are, tune to channel 100 and re-attempt the
authorization process
Cannot execute file transfers.
Firewall might be blocking transfers.
TFTP server setup issues.
IP address issues.
Disable third-party firewalls.
Refer to
Section 7
and check for errors in
upgrade settings.
Verify that the PC and the card are on the
same subnet (i.e.
192.168.3.xxx
)
A card appears to be “stuck” on
the old revision of firmware.
Firmware bug makes a small
number of cards use the wrong IP
address for software update requests.
Refer to
Section 7
and check for errors in
upgrade settings.
Look for an address like
169.255.7.xxx
in
the TFTP logs. If found, temporarily remap
the PC‟s IP address to a matching subnet.
When attempting to upgrade a
full chassis, the last couple of
cards do not upgrade.
If there are more than six cards in a
chassis, the first card will get to the
reset stage before the last six cards
receive the upgrade request.
Refer to
Section 7
and check for errors in
upgrade settings.
Initiate the upgrades from the highest-
numbered slot in the chassis.
Cards cannot be upgraded
when using the integrated
switch of a COM200 chassis.
This is due to a limitation in the
initial production run of the COM24
cards; it is only an issue when these
cards are placed in a COM200
chassis.
Refer to
Section 7
and check for errors in
upgrade settings.
Connect the cards; front Ethernet ports to
an external switch and upgrade in the same
manner as with a COM100 chassis.
Cannot talk to / find cards.
Possible IP routing problems on PC.
Possible Ethernet cable / port
problems.
Disable wireless interface on PC and try
again.
Try switching around Ethernet cables /
ports.
Frequent macroblocking when
transcoding.
This will happen periodically during
high-action sequences.
The channels could be exceeding the
QAM channel‟s bandwidth capacity
The card is also hosting an EPG.
You are using a COM100 chassis.
The front Ethernet port jumpers are
missing.
Avoid assigning two high-action channels
to the same COM24 card.
Be sure that both tuners on a COM24 card
are mapped to the same QAM channel.
Host the EPG on a non-transcoding card.
Be sure you are using a COM200 chassis.
Be sure that there is a jumper cable between
each COM24/XDR24 pair.
