b)  Leak test

(1) After confirming the power is off, disconnect the

connector (GRN) (between timer and terminal 5)
to separate A and B parts. (Fig. 8-4 )  Then
connect part A of this connector (GRN) with the
connector C (BLU) and turn on the power
source. (Fig. 8-5 )

(2) With the hexagonal wrench, turn the valve stem

on the narrow tube service valve
counterclockwise by 90 degrees (1/4 turn) for
10 seconds, and then turn the stem clockwise
to close it again. (Fig. 8-6)

(3) Leak test all joints at the tubing (both indoor

and outdoors) with liquid soap.  Bubbles
indicate a leak.  Be sure to wipe off the soap
with a clean cloth.

c)  Finishing job

(1) With the hexagonal wrench, turn the wide tube

service valve stem counterclockwise to fully
open the valve.

(2) Turn the narrow tube service valve stem

counterclockwise to fully open the valve.

(3) Loosen the vacuum hose connected to the

wide tube service port.  Then, remove the hose.

(4) Replace the bonnet and flare nut on the wide

tube service port and fasten the flare nut
securely with an adjustable wrench or box
wrench.  Next, mount the valve cap and tighten
it with a torque wrench (the cap needs to be
tightened with the torque of 200 kg-cm).
This process is very important to prevent
gas from leaking from the system.

(5) Turn off the power source.

(6) Connect parts A and B of the connector

(GRN) as original state. (Fig. 8-4)

To air purge unit C, perform steps (2) and (3) of
b) Leak test and then steps (1) to (4) of c) Finishing
job in order.

This completes air purge with a vacuum pump.  The
air conditioner is now ready to test run.
