Before you start the recording / time-shifting with a USB disk connected, please make sure
there is enough free space on your disk.
The space required varies hugely according to the broadcasting program. HD recordings can
use anywhere from 5 to 15 GB per hour, which is dependent on the “information” being
broadcast. The size variance is caused by the resolution (1080i for the commercial networks
vs. ABC HD's 720p or SBS HD's 576p), whether or not there is a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack,
or multiple soundtracks, subtitles, EPG and time information, etc.
The data rate of SD recordings can also vary, but it usually falls somewhere between 3 and 4
GB an hour.
Press the key if you want to record the program you are currently watching.
If there is USB disk mounted, a prompt dialog will be shown for confirmation, press key (or
do nothing in 10 seconds)to start the recording.

If you unplug the USB disk without stopping the recording or time-shifting, or suddenly lose
power in such circumstances, the file system of the disk will be damaged and a recovery is
needed before it can be used again.
We strongly recommend you use a PC to recover the file system, please follow the
instructions below.

Plug the damaged disk into the USB port on your PC.
Enter “My Computer” and right click the partition which needs a recovery. On the popup
menu, select the “Property” item.
Choose “Tool” column in the popup dialog, and click the “Check Now...” button.
Only tick the first option “Automatically fix file system errors” and then click “Start” button,
the recovery will start.
Wait a while until the recovery is successful, and you can use the disk on the unit again.
