machine and slit it in the middle
between the seams. Use the seam
divider to do this.

Slightly reduce the thread tension.

With thin fabrics place a piece of
tissue paper or newspaper under the
fabric.

When buttonholing stretch fabrics
mark the buttonhole with a guide
thread and then sew over it with a
zig-zag stitch.
Sewing on buttons
1. Put the embroidering/darning throat
plate in place.
2. Attach the buttonholing foot (see the
"Changing the foot" section).
3. Place the button between the button
attaching foot and the fabric so that
the needle is directly over the right-
hand hole in the button.
4. Lower the button attaching foot.
5. Set the stitch selector dial to "B".
6. Sew a few stitches in the right-hand
hole in the button.
7. Set the stitch selector dial to "C".
8. Turn the hand wheel towards the
front. Be careful that the needle
sews in both holes in the button.
Adjust the breadth of the zig-zag to
the distance between the holes in
the button.
