5.1 Channel Weighting section

When the ALC Target parameter on the Weight
page is set to
5.1 Format, the five channel pa-
rameters serve as channel weighing fields for
the main channels. The gains shown here cor-
respond to the channel weighting as defined in
BS.1770. BS.1770 specifies the front channels to
be set at 0.0 dB, and the surround channels at
+1.5 dB.
When the ALC Target parameter on the Weight
page is set to
Downmix, the five channel param-
eters serve as downmix coefficients for the Main
channels.
Typical downmix gains would be 0 dB for L and
R, -3 dB for Center, and between -3 and -6 dB
for Surrounds.
LFE section
Weighting parameter
Use the Weighting parameter to set whether or
not the LFE level should be taken into account
when loudness is adjusted by the algorithm.
According to BS.1770, the LFE should not con-
tribute. However, the debate is on, and the rec-
ommendation might change. If you find that
commercials start using unexpectedly high LFE
level, you may wish to bring LFE into the equa-
tion. Loudness Wizard enables you to stay flex-
ible on this issue.
LFE Process parameter
Use the LFE process parameter to specify
whether dynamic LFE gain correction should fol-
low loudness adjustments of the Main channels
(Main link setting) or not (Bypass setting).
