Maintenance
Replacing the Lamp Cartridge
The lamp that is used in the light source of the projector has a service life. The rated service life of the lamp is ap-
proximately 2,000 hours for model
KG-PS232Xh/232X
(when used only in normal mode), and approximately 4,000
hours for model
KG-PV131X/131S
. Note that the lamp service life may be shortened due to usage conditions and
other factors. The service life will be extended when the Eco mode is used proportionately longer (than the normal
mode) with model
KG-PS232Xh/232X
.
(Rated service life means the average value of service life of lamps that were manufactured over a long period, and it de-
pends on the manufacturer’s test conditions. The rated service life is an average value that depends on the manufacturer’s
test conditions; it is not a guaranty of operation up to this time.)
When the service life of the lamp is exceeded, the indicator of the POWER/STANDBY button will light in blue, the
LAMP indicator will light in red, and the message “Replace the lamp cartridge.” will be displayed on the screen. In
this case, it is time to replace the lamp cartridge. Replace the lamp cartridge according to the procedure on the
next page. See Page E-88.
When the lamp has been used for more than 100 hours after reaching its service life, the projector will enter the
standby mode and it will no longer be possible to turn on the power.
Replacement lamps can be obtained at dealers. When ordering, please specify the replacement lamp for projector
KG-PS232Xh/KG-PS232X

CAUTION
Replacement of the lamp cartridge is performed after switching off the power, waiting for the cooling fan to stop, discon-
necting the power plug from the power outlet, and then leaving the projector for about 60 minutes before replacement
is started. Replacement of the lamp cartridge during operation or immediately after operation stops will cause burns
because of the high temperature.
Do not loosen any screws other than those specified.
Do not touch the lamp with bare hands. Doing so could shorten the life of the lamp.
If lamp has reached the end of its usable life, the lamp bulb may shatter. When this happens, an explosive sound can be
heard and pieces of glass may be scattered in the lamp cartridge. Do not touch them as the pieces of glass may cause
injury. If this happens, contact your dealer or the store the projector was purchased. •
