In automatic operation (CV 169 Bit 0 of the leading loco = 1) the function’s outputs are arranged
such that they can be activated via the DCC controller without any further programming. The au-
tomatic functions are shown in the previous table.
In normal operation the previously mentioned outputs are automatically switched via the locomo-
tive decoder. In other words:
The end wagon’s rear light will be switched according to driving direction and positon in
the train set. Should the wagon not be at the end of the train, then the output will not be
switched on. Should the wagon be at the end of the train, then the rear light will be
switched on. The rear light is always switched on for the very last wagon of the train de-
pendent on driving direction
The head light of a control car will be switched dependent on driving direction and posi-
tion in the train. If the control car is not at the front of a train, then the output will not be
switched on. If the control car is at the front of the train, then the head light will be
switched on dependent on direction.
Should the automatic lighting be switched off in the lead locomotive (CV 169 Bit 0 = 0 in the lead-
ing locomotive's decoder), the outputs can be controlled according to the function mapping table
CV161 to 168 in the wagon decoder. The outputs of the wagon decoder are assigned as follows to
the Bits of the relevant CVs:
CV
Bit 7
Bit 6
Bit 5 Bit 4 Bit 3 Bit 2
Bit 1
Bit 0

For example, if Bit 7 is set in CV 162, then the output 1 of a WD-PWxxx can be switched on and
off by pressing F2 (TCCS Address). Please note, an output can only be controlled by one DCC
function. If an output is set up in 2 CVs eg. 163 & 165, the control effects will overlap and the
condition of the outputs will be undetermined.
