Settings in the VSP 1250 R menu
MAIN MENU
When you initially open the menu system, the screen
displays the MAIN MENU. From the main menu you can
call up the sub-menus where the various picture and
sound settings are adjusted.
Note:
The source whose settings you are able to
adjust is displayed on the integral screen of the
VSP 1250 R
:

For

systems the source is defined in
‘plain text’, e.g.
'DVD'
or
'VCR1'
.
•
If you are not using the

within a

surround system, you will see indications
such as
'HDMI1'
or
'AV1'
.
Sub-menu:
INPUT PICTURE CTRL.
In this sub-menu you can adjust the picture parameters for the
currently active
input.
The following adjustment facilities are available in the
'INPUT PICTURE CTRL'
menu:
•
BRIGHTNESS
[-40 ... +40]
We suggest that you adjust the brightness so that the
black areas of the picture are displayed as black.
Ideally this should be carried out using a suitable test
image (e.g. a universal test picture).
•
CONTRAST
[-40 ... +40]
We suggest that you adjust the contrast so that the
white areas of the picture are displayed as pure white.
Ideally this should be carried out using a suitable test
image (e.g. a universal test picture).
•
SATURATION
[-40 ... +40]
This setting influences the depth of colour. We suggest
that you select a setting which provides natural colour
reproduction. Ideally this should be carried out using
real static images or film sequences.
•
HUE
[-20 ... +20]
This setting should be adjusted to set a natural colour
balance. Ideally this should also be carried out using
real images, e.g. skin tones.
•
H-SHARPNESS
= Horizontal sharpness
[- 5 ...+ 8]
•
V-SHARPNESS
= Vertical sharpness
[- 3 ...+ 7]
These adjustments affect the apparent sharpness of
the image. The subjective perception of the image can
often be improved if you adjust the sharpness of the
picture material, especially if the picture source is of
poor quality.
Note:
It is not possible to adjust the horizontal and
vertical sharpness separately when you are
using conventional video sources. For this
reason you cannot select the menu point ‘V-
SHARPNESS’ when an analogue source is
selected.
Note:
The sharpness adjustment has
no
effect, if the
YUV input (AV3) is selected.
