Special screws for periprosthetic fractures have been devel-
oped for cases in which an intramedullary nail or a prosthesis
could impair the placement of screws.
These periprosthetic screws are self-tapping with a flattened,
very short tip. This ensures optimal fixation of the plate on
the diaphysis. They are available in five lengths of 8, 10, 12,
14 and 18 mm and allow the thread to engage in the near
cortex.
