4. Replacement Procedures – Failed Cooling Fan
Fan Replacement Procedure
Each System Cooling fan has an associated fault LED on the fan itself. If a fan fails, system management
illuminates the fault LED for the failing fan.
Step 1
To replace the fan, remove the cover from the Server and carefully grab the green curved handle
of the fan that needs replacing.
Step 2
Squeeze the handle of the fan while pulling upward. It will then release from its connector.
Step 3
The new fan can be installed by lining up the electrical connectors and then pushing the fan
downward into its slot.
Also notice the numbering order of the Fans.
NOTE
: Fans are replaced
in kits of three – 2 larger
fans, and 1 smaller fan.
Fans 1 – 4 are larger; 5
and 6 are smaller.
