PROCEDURE FOR
RETURNING TO
S ERVICE
1. Cle a n the entire motorcycle.
2. Remove the oily r a gs from the
a ir cle a ner int a ke a nd muffler
outlet.
3 . Dr a in a ll the engine oil. Inst a ll
a new oil filter a nd fill the
engine with fresh oil a s out-
lined in this m a nu a l.
4. Remove the sp a rk plugs. Turn
the engine a few times. Rein-
st a ll the sp a rk plugs.
5. Reinst a ll the b a ttery by refer-
ring to the BATTERY section.
6. M a ke sure th a t the motorcycle
is properly lubric a ted.
7. Perform the IN S PECTION
BEFORE RIDING a s listed in

8. S t a rt the motorcycle a s out-
lined in this m a nu a l.

met a l surf a ces resulting from
minor a ccidents or imp a cts
from stones a nd gr a vel.
Ro a d s a lt, se a a ir, industri a l pollu-
tion, a nd high humidity will a ll con-
tribute to corrosion.
How to Help Prevent Corro s ion
• W a sh your motorcycle fre-
quently, a t le a st once a month.
Keep your motorcycle a s cle a n
a nd dry a s possible.
• Remove foreign m a teri a l
deposits. Foreign m a teri a l
such a s ro a d s a lt, chemic a ls,
ro a d oil or t a r, tree s a p, bird
droppings a nd industri a l f a ll-
out m a y d a m a ge your motor-
cycle’s finish. Remove these
types of deposits
a s quickly a s
possible. If these deposits a re
difficult to w a sh off, a n a ddi-
tion a l cle a ner m a y be required.
