Configuring Smart Management Functions
The 4/5/8 Port 10/100/1000M Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Smart Switch
offers you a very
convenient and secure way to configure your Switch for VLAN, Priority and Port-Mirroring
function through a RS-232 cable that connects its console port and the host PC. Using
Windows HyperTerminal (on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP) or utilities such as Telix or
Procomm (on DOS environment), you can easily configure the Switch for VLAN, Priority
and Port-Mirroring function.
But before you can actually configure the smart management functions by your host PC,
you should establish a proper RS-232 cable connection between the console port of your
switch and the COM port of your host PC.
Making RS-232 Cable Connection to the Host PC
The way to make a RS-232 cable connection is simple. Just prepare a proper RS-232 cable
to connect the console port of your
4/5/8 Port 10/100/1000M Gigabit Ethernet
Desktop Smart Switch
and the COM port (either COM1or COM2) of your host PC.
