Network Connection
The following figures illustrate the connections of 4/5/8 port 10/100/1000M Gigabit Ethernet
Desktop Smart Switch.
PC to Switch
A PC can be connected to the 4/5/8 port 10/100/1000M Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Smart
Switch via a 2-pair Category 3/4/5 UTP or 4-pair Category 5 UTP straight cable. The PC
(equipped with a RJ-45 1000/100/10Mbps jack) should be connected to any of four ports.
Note: The LED indicators for PC
connection are dependant on the
LAN card capabilities. If LED
indicators are not illuminated after
making a proper connection, check
the PC LAN card, the cable, the 4/
5/8 port 10/100/1000M Gigabit
Ethernet Desktop Smart Switch
conditions and the connections.
Switch to Hub
A hub (10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX) can be connected to the N-Way Switch via a 2-pair
Category 3/4/5 or 4-pair Category 5 UTP/STP straight cable. The connection is accom-
plished from any normal port of the 4/5/8 port 10/100/1000M Gigabit Ethernet Desktop
Smart Switch to the uplink port of the connected hub.
