1-2 Serverboard Features
The SuperServer 7046T-H6R/7046T-H6RF is built upon the X8DTH-6/X8DTH-6F,
a dual processor serverboard based on the Intel 5520 chipset and including two
IOH36D hubs. Below are the main features of the X8DTH-6/X8DTH-6F. (See Figure
1-1 for a block diagram of the chipset).
Processors
The X8DTH-6/X8DTH-6F supports single or dual Intel® Xeon® 5500 LGA 1366
processors. Please refer to the serverboard description pages on our web site for
a complete listing of supported processors (www.supermicro.com).
Memory
The X8DTH-6/X8DTH-6F has twelve DIMM slots that can support up to 96 GB of
registered ECC or up to 24 GB of unbuffered ECC/non-ECC DDR3-1333/1066/800
SDRAM. The memory operates in a 3-channel confi guration and requires modules
of the same size and speed to be installed three at a time. See Chapter 5 for
details.
SAS
An LSI2008 controller chip is integrated into the serverboard to provide an eight-
port SAS subsystem.
Serial ATA
A Serial ATA controller is integrated into the ICH10R (South Bridge) portion of the
IOH-36D chipset to provide a six-port 3 Gb/s SATA subsystem, which is RAID 0,
1, 10 and 5 supported (RAID 5 supported by Windows OS only). The SATA drives
are hot-swappable units.
PCI Expansion Slots
The X8DTH-6/X8DTH-6F has seven PCI Express 2.0 x8 slots (all in x16 slots).
Onboard Controllers/Ports
The color-coded I/O ports include one COM port (an additional COM header is lo-
cated on the serverboard), a VGA (monitor) port, two USB 2.0 ports (two additional
USB headers and one Type A port are included on the serverboard), PS/2 mouse
and keyboard ports and two gigabit Ethernet ports. In addition, the X8DTH-6F
(7046T-H6RF) includes a dedicated IPMI LAN with KVM support.
