Chapter 4
Motherboard Connections
This section describes the connections on the motherboard and provides pinout definitions.
Note that depending on how the system is configured, not all connections are required.
The LEDs on the motherboard are also described here. A motherboard layout indicating
component locations may be found in Chapter 1.
Please review the Safety Precautions in the manual appendix before installing or removing
components.
4.1 Power Connections
Two proprietary power connectors (JMB_E5, JMB_E6), provide power for the system from
the midplane.
4.2 Headers and Connectors
Onboard Fan Header
Headers FAN1, FAN2, and FAN3, are not used in this system. System fans are powered
from the midplane.
TPM Header
The JTPM1 header is used to connect a Trusted Platform Module (TPM). A TPM is a security
device that supports encryption and authentication in hard drives. It enables the motherboard
to deny access if the TPM associated with the hard drive is not installed in the system.
