Chapter 3

Component Installation and Maintenance

This chapter provides instructions on installing and replacing main system components. To

prevent compatibility issues, only use components that match the specifications and part

numbers given.
Remove power from the system before installing or replacing components.

3.1 Removing Power

Use the following procedure to verify that power has been removed from the system. This
step is required when removing or installing non hot-swap components or when replacing a
non-redundant power supply.

1. Use the operating system to power down the system.

2. After the system has fully shut down, disconnect the AC power cords from the power

strip or outlet.

3. Disconnect the power cords from the power supply modules.
