Unit Identifier Switch/UID LED Indicator
A Unit Identifier (UID) switch and an LED indicator are located on the motherboard. The UID
switch is located at UID, on the back panel. The UID LED (LED5) is located next to the UID
switch. When you press the UID button, the UID LED will be turned on. Press the switch
again to turn off the LED indicator. The UID Indicator provides easy identification of a system
unit that may be in need of service.
Note:
UID can also be triggered via IPMI on the motherboard. For more information on IPMI,
please refer to the IPMI User's Guide posted on our website at
4.4 Jumpers
Explanation of Jumpers
To modify the operation of the motherboard, jumpers are used to choose between optional
settings. Jumpers create shorts between two pins to change the function associated with it.
Pin 1 is identified with a square solder pad on the printed circuit board. See the motherboard
layout page for jumper locations.
Note:
On a two-pin jumper, "Closed" means the jumper is on both pins and "Open" indicates
the jumper is either on only one pin or has been completely removed.
