5-5 Installing Memory
Caution: Exercise care when installing/removing DIMMs to prevent damage.
Installing DIMMs
1. Insert the desired number of DIMMs into the memory slots, starting with the
blue slots (DIMMA2, DIMMB2) then the black slots (DIMMA1, and DIMMB1).
2. Push the release tabs outwards on both ends of the DIMM slot to unlock it.
3. Align the key on the DIMM module with the receptive point on the slot.
4. Use both thumbs to press both ends of the module straight down into the slot
until the module snaps into place.
5. Lock the release tabs to secure the DIMM module into the slot.
Memory Support
The -LN4F supports up to 32 GB of Unbuffered (UDIMM) ECC DDR3-
1600/1333 memory. Populating with a pair of memory modules of the same type
and same size will result in interleaved memory, which will improve memory per-
formance. Check the Supermicro web site for recommended memory modules.

To Install: Insert module

down until it snaps into
place. Pay attention to
the alignment notch at
the bottom.
To Remove:
Use your thumbs to
gently push the release
tabs near both ends of
the module. This should
release it from the slot.
