System Fans
Four heavy-duty fans and sockets for two optional fans provide the cooling for the
1019D-FRN8TP. It is important that the chassis cover is properly installed in order for the
cooling air to circulate properly through the chassis and cool the components.
Fan speed is controlled by system temperature via IPMI. If a fan fails, the remaining fan will
ramp up to full speed and the Information LED on the control panel will turn on. Replace any
failed fan with the same type and model.
Replacing System Cooling Fans
1. If necessary, open the chassis cover while the system is running to determine which fan
has failed. Then power down the system and remove the chassis cover as described in
section 3.1.
2. Remove the failed fan's cable from the connector on the motherboard, then lift the fan
housing and the two fans inside it up and out of the chassis. (Gently pull upward to
remove a failed fan from the housing.)
3. Place the new fan into the vacant space in the housing. Make sure the arrows on the
sides of the fan (indicating air direction) point in the same direction as the arrows on the
other fans.
4. Plug the fan's cable into the connector on the motherboard.
5. Place the fan housing into the chassis and secure it with the screws previously set
aside.
6. Power up the system and check that the fan is working properly before replacing the top
cover.
