Preparing your wheelchair for use
Detachable backrest
To remove backrest release
both pins (one each side) they
must be withdrawn from the side
frames. Depressing the retaining
button situated in the end of the
pins releases the spring loaded
pegs allowing the withdrawal of
the release pins (Fig. 7). Pull the
backrest posts up and out of the
seat frame. To re-fit, reverse the
above procedure ensuring that
the backrest post holes align with
the hole in the seat frame. Re-
insert pin from the outside of frame
inwards and ensure that the spring
loaded pegs lock out on clearing
the upright post.
Angle adjustable backrest
If your powerchair has been
fitted with the optional adjustable
angle backrest (Fig. 8), it can be
folded down. Remove the release
pins from both sides and fold the
backrest down onto the seat.
To adjust the angle, replace the
pins and slacken angle locking
screws on both sides of the
wheelchair. Now select the position
or angle you require, ensure that
serrations are effectively seated in
their position and tighten all screws
securely. Test backrest to confirm
rigidity.
